1. Purpose
These limits exist to stop automated scraping and resale. They are not there to ration customers.
This Fair Use Policy applies to Hail Sentinel for Business — the Business Console and the API. It is incorporated into the Terms of Service by reference. Every limit published below is enforced by the service, and we do not publish limits that are not enforced. The only limits not listed by number are the safeguards against automated extraction described in section 4.
2. Published limits
| Limit | Solo | Business | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Users Named logins that may sign in to the workspace. | 1 | 25 | By agreement |
| Watched properties Addresses you pin for monitoring. One pin covers the parcel and every structure on it. | 250 | 2,500 | By agreement |
| Reports a month Reports generated in a billing period. Opening or downloading a report you already generated does not count. | 100 | 500 | By agreement |
| API requests a minute Sustained request rate against the REST API. | 60 | 60 | By agreement |
| Total canvassing-zone area (sq mi) Combined area of all drawn zones on the account. Zones are unlimited in number. | 250,000 | 250,000 | By agreement |
Hail maps and canvassing zones are unlimited: draw as many zones as you like, anywhere in the Continental United States, subject to the combined area figure above.
3. Users
Each user is one named person. Logins are not shared.
An administrator may add, remove and replace named users at any time within the plan's user count. A single login used by more than one person is a breach of this policy and of the Terms of Service.
4. Automated and bulk extraction
Automated or bulk extraction of data is limited, including through the API.
The service applies internal safeguards against automated extraction in addition to the request rate published above. They are set well above the ordinary use of the Console and the API by a business running its own operation, and they are aimed at scraping, mirroring, systematically enumerating our data, and operating the service on behalf of third parties. If your account reaches one, we tell you which one and when it resets — the next day for daily safeguards, or the start of your next monthly usage period.
5. What you may do with reports and data
Reports and the data behind them are for your own jobs — your own customers, clients, insurers and carriers. Reselling reports or data, selling leads built from them, or embedding them in a product or service you offer to others requires an Enterprise agreement.
6. What happens when you reach a limit
We tell you which limit you reached and, for monthly limits, when it resets, and offer an upgrade or a conversation. Reaching a limit does not delete data, close your account, or affect the alerts already configured on properties you watch.
7. Notice before we restrict an account
Except for clear automated abuse or a security threat, we contact you before restricting an account.
We give 30 days' notice by email before lowering any limit on this page.
8. How we use the word "unlimited"
On our pricing page, "unlimited" is used only for hail maps and canvassing zones, and it means unlimited for normal business use, subject to this policy and to the combined zone-area figure in section 2. We do not describe users, watched properties, reports or API access as unlimited on any self-serve plan, because each of those carries a published limit above.
